Rising from the desert environment, with the majestic Jebel Hafeet and Hajar Mountains as backdrop, the Al Ain Zoo really is something special. This park that covers more than 900 ha is home to an animal collection of 180 species, of which 30% (at least) of these are considered endangered.
The Zoo allows visitors to closely interact with some of these beautiful creatures, with giraffe and bird feeding, camel riding and the Elezba petting zoo a must for any visitor.
Recent upgrades to the park included the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre (a learning centre with interactive exhibits and loads of multimedia experiences) as well as the Al Ain Safari – one of the largest man-made African Safaris in the world, stretching over 217 ha and home to a wide range of African fauna and flora.
These recent upgrades required several new buildings – amongst others Safari boarding platforms, ticket offices, tuck shops and feeding platforms for which Cape Reed International provided stunning thatched roofs that complement the overall look and design of the park, blending beautifully with the natural theme that’s present throughout the Zoo.
If you haven’t been to the Zoo yet, a visit is an absolute must – young or old, whether you long for a closer encounter with some of nature’s most incredible beasts or simply want to enjoy the fresh air and natural surroundings, you surely won’t be disappointed!
