The much anticipated Dubai Safari is nearing completion with the first batch of its new inhabitants that arrived on March 14!

This first batch of animals came all the way from the Seoul Grand Park in South Korea and includes four bears, nine lions, nine monkeys and ten bats!

Expected only to be open to the public by the end of 2016 in Al Warqa’a 5, officials at Dubai Municipality (under which this project falls) stated that it is not too early to start with the acclimatization of the animals to their new home and habitat.

According to deputy director general of Dubai Municipality, Eisa Al Maidour, this 119 hectare zoo will not be limited to recreational activities only but will also include a research centre.

“In the future, Dubai Safari Park will be considered as one of the global sanctuaries, which will include a research centre that will study the conservation of animals, as well as biological diversity and other research projects,” he said.
